As in most cases of common words being used, I note that the trademark
includes the logo and typeset. The Internet Society could add a (R) next
to the logo.

The original logo & text were trademarked too:

the registration has lapsed/been abandoned. It is worth noting that
originally "NO CLAIM IS MADE TO THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE "INTERNET
SOCIETY" APART FROM THE MARK AS SHOWN".

ISOC's also trademarked, in its class:

The problem is that trademarks are geographical and it costs a lot more
to have a trademark worldwide, especially when some countries require a
separate registration & fee.
