Thanks Jason for the question.

Although i have listened to some of the IETF sessions/BoF but Unfortunately i was not able to see the live cast of the BoT meeting due to a prior commitment at the same time. I have reviewed the meeting presentations after the meeting, find bellow some of my thoughts on some the issues :

- Significant of the meeting Location :
The meeting is the first in Latin America, 2nd in Southern hemisphere, IMHO it sends a positive message that the IETF meetings are not only been held in North America, it go to other geographical locations as long its fits the hosting/community requirements. Jari indicated in his report that the meeting had a large number of local participants, the same he been echoed by other sessions speakers which is a positive step to attract new commers from the local internet/engineering community.

- IANA Transition : As a vice chair of the ICG, i have witnessed ISOC support for the IANA transition process, Sally Wentworth testimony in Congress recently reaffirmed this position. its good to note ISOC board/management support to this critical milestone.

- Chapters Advisory Council : its also good to note BoT/ISOC management support for the AC new role and support it to achieve its objectives, AC can became a useful channel to provide the chapters advice, recommendations and rise concerns to BoT/management and Staff in a bottom-up process. Beside identifying the chapter's priorities which has been initiated by conducting the survey its also important as well for AC to be able to revert back to the chapters and seek advice on policy matters whenever policy issues emerges.

Hope this answers your question.

Kind Regards,
Mohamed

Hi Jason!

Unfortunately there was no technical possibility for me to join the meeting, I was far away from broadband with only 3G at hands.

However my focus of interest was (and is):

- IAB's Chair report (+public report, in particular RFC7720, 7687, 7754, IOTSI and other issues). I follow these developments regularly. There is no my thought on matters of these developments at the moment.

- IANA transition, implementation timeline. Status of international internet bureaucrat requires this knowledge, we've been waiting for this for a long time;

- Privacy and encryption. This is our daily life,  hot topic for all of us. My thought is simple: more encryption, the better internet;

- Avri Doria's report. Avri is very practical, as an expert form the chapter I find it useful in the light of local chapter issues;

- Olga Cavalli's presentation: I follow my competitor of course :)

- Chapter development report, useful and practical information.

So for me, as a candidate, it is the must to follow board events for the practical reasons. But I would do it anyway, because I'm an expert interested in open internet development.

Best regards,

I did participate in person the open ISOC Board meeting held in Buenos Aires, as I live here. One of the purposes of my participation was to present the activities of the ISOC Argentina Chapter in my role of president. Details about agenda and my presentation can be found in this link.<http://www.internetsociety.org/who-we-are/board-trustees/meetings>

Yes, I enjoyed meeting you, hearing about your good local chapter work, and all the things going on in Buenos Aires! Thanks for sharing the link below - I hope that people that were not at the board meeting take a moment to read the presentation.

Another one was to participate when the Chair of the Chapter Advisory Council, Ms Avri Doria, was informing the ISOC Board of trustees about the activities of the Council, survey and next steps of our work. This session was of particular interest to me as I am a member of this Council in representation of Latin America and Caribbean region.

I found specially interesting the support that several members of the ISOC Board expressed towards the work of the Chapter Advisory Council.

Appart from these specific interests, I had the opportunity to get in touch and interact with ISOC Board members and ISOC Staff present in the meeting.

Thanks for your thoughtful response!

- Jason

2016-04-14 13:36 GMT-03:00 Livingood, Jason <Jason_Livingood at comcast.com<mailto:Jason_Livingood at comcast.com>>:

The ISOC Board held a meeting last week in Buenos Aires. It included several sections open to the general public.

For the candidates - did you take the time to participate or listen in to any of the meeting? (If not, why not?) What were your thoughts about the issues discussed?

Thanks!
Jason
