[Chapter-delegates] Creating a good momentum

Hi,

In my almost 6 years on the ISOC Board, I think there have been many improvements relating to ISOC relationship with it’s chapters. There clearly were serious problems, but I think there have been many improvements since then. It’s not perfect and I won’t list the problems six years ago, they are well known, but will say that the ISOC Board and ISOC staff are very committed to continuing the improvements. The Chapter members advisory council and the Boards Open Forum are the latest examples. We included the Open Forum in our board meetings to allow the ISOC community to speak directly to the Board. Something long overdue, and we did hear from you :-)

The challenges that face the Internet are not going away. While the technology continues to get much better, for example by giving us the ability to have distributed meetings with video and audio that enable the Board Open Forum, the challenges to an open and secure Internet grow, and we still have much to do to bring the Internet to everyone (and now everything). There is much for us all to do to build the future that we want.

Thanks,
Bob
