[Chapter-delegates] Application for ISOC Chapter in Dominican Republic

Dear all,
The following application for the Chapter formation in Dominican Republic has been received.
It is being sent to this list for peer comment and review. Please note
that the Chapter is not yet formed and has not been officially recognised
by the Internet Society.
If there are people on this list that know any of the individuals
proposing to establish the Chapter, their feedback is especially welcome.
The period allowed for comments is two weeks and the deadline is March 18,
2015.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, the Chapter team or the LAC Bureau.

A. Nombre propuesto del capítulo (Proposed name of the Chapter)
Internet Society Dominican Republic Chapter
B. Community of Interest the Chapter will serve
Dominican Republic
C. Purpose and scope of Chapter
The purpose and scope of Chapter can be summarize in the following lines:
a) Promote the use of Internet as a tool for sustainable development of Dominican Republic’s Society.
b) Provide an open space for discussion that encourage the study and adoption of new ICTs, with special emphasis on Internet to strengthen human development.
c) Foster consensus between different society’s actors with respect to public policies for development of Internet’s Ecosystem.
d) Serve as a mediator and moderator between the regulator authority, the Internet service and connectivity providers and civil society, in ICTs related aspects.
e) Promote and stimulate the public policies adoption, projects and programs that contribute to affordable and universal Internet access in equality and equity for Dominican Republic Citizens.
f) Promote the Internet use at all Education National System’s Levels.
g) Promote the open development and evolution of the Intenet, it’s services and contents to benefit of all people, particularly Dominican Republic citizens.
h) Promote local participation in regional and global Internet activities.
i) Encourage Dominican Republic’s participation in the knowledge and information economy.
j) Create capacities to contribute to a meaningful Internet’s use that can foster the development of transforming opportunities in people’s life in the Dominican Republic.
k) Promote the attainment of individual and collective researches.
l) Promote communication, approach and creation of capacities for ISOC-DO members.
m) Encourage and facilitate the relationships with other countries’ ISOC members, specially with the ones from LAC.
D. Outline of key priorities for the first year of Chapter
Project: “Creation of a 2015 Permanent Forum about Internet Governance”
Four (4) Lectures during 2015 with the financial and logistic support of INTEC University, PUCMM university and INDOTEL (regulator) to promote all Internet themes related to “Internet Governance” wich are poorly known in our country, we will try to create awareness and encourage participation and collaboration.
To be celebrated on: March, May, July and September
All logistics associated to the project and Lectures to be dictated will be manage by:
