Dear All,

I'm impressed by the proposal of the applicant of an ISOC Chapter on
Internet of food. They are introducing a theme based chapter rather the
traditional country based chapters.

Since their
*"Community of Interest the Chapter will serve:*
Individuals and entities globally interested in advancing issues and
technology at the intersection of the Internet and food."

and in the membership section they include
"The ambition is to cover a wide international spectrum and to work with
distributed leadership for specific tasks and initiatives. The ambition is
to make the question of Internet of Food a natural part of local ISOC
chapters and to foster local leadership around the issue."

they made me think of the supply-chain of the food industry and all what it
goes with it and how the Internet & its content has to offer. If the
Internet of Food chapter is approved I could see the importance to have
with their founding members representative from the global south where the
resources are exploited by multi-national corporations.

However, is ISOC ready to introduce theme based chapters to its structure?
or do ISOC allow those founder establish a Special Interest groups per the
suggestion by some of the colleagues here.
Here ISOC must support a new structure to work globally with the interested
partners or Chapters.

Best regards,
Nadira Alaraj
