This was in fact posted about 10 days ago, but what with ICANN and
everything, I forgot to send out a notice. It's gained a lot of views in
the interim, one of ISOC-NY's most popular vids this year.

On Monday March 17 2014, the OpenITP Techno-Activism Third
Monday<http://hacktivism.eventbrite.com/>'s
featured presenter was Professor Susan
McGregor<https://twitter.com/SusanEMcG>of Tow
Center for Digital Journalism <http://towcenter.org/> at Columbia
University. Her topic was *Journalists, Security Practices & The Future *.
The primary challenges that journalists face in adopting effective security
practices in their work. While the AP phone records case and the Edward
Snowden revelations have helped raise security awareness among journalists,
the industry faces significant challenges in constructing a coherent
approach to these challenges, including a lack of appropriate tools and
training materials. The talk addresses these issues as well as some
possible paths for improvement. Before Susan spoke, Magnus Ag of the Committee
to Protect Journalists <http://www.cpj.org> (CPJ) introduced and gave away
copies of their latest international press freedom guide. Video is below.
