Board of Directors
Hi,
I join the congratulations. In particular Hartmut, with whom we have shared
ideas both together and in discrepancy; an upright and smart Internet
citizen.
Veni, congratulations are due to you as well on occasion of your increased
role in ICANN's staff.
Good to see our community grow in responsibility and recognition and also to
observe the way you/we are opening up space for new generations.
Yours,
Alejandro Pisanty

to Public Interest Registry Board of Directors
The Internet Society today announced that Arthur Reilly and Hartmut Glaser
have been appointed to three-year terms to the Public Interest Registry
Board of Directors. These appointments will begin at the mid-year 2014
Public Interest Registry Board meeting.
Art Reilly was re-appointed to the Public Interest Registry Board and has
served since 2011. He has been a leader in promoting a more-inclusive
Information Society and improving interoperability and quality in networks
through standards for more than 25 years. Reilly retired in April 2011 as
Senior Director, Strategic Technology Policy at Cisco Systems where he was
the principal representative to the International Telecommunications Union
and many other UN activities on policy matters. In this capacity, he served
on numerous US delegations. Since retiring, in addition to the Public
Interest Registry Board, Reilly has been active serving as a Board or
Advisory Council member for several not-for-profit organizations in the
areas of scientific research and education.
A new Board member, Hartmut Glaser is the Executive Secretary of the
Brazilian Internet Steering Committee/CGI.br in Brazil, the entity
responsible for all activities of the Brazilian Internet community. These
include the registration of Brazil's country code top-level domain, the
assignment of IP addresses in Brazil, the coordination of the Brazilian
National Computer Emergency Response Team, the handling of computer security
incident reports, the production of indicators and statistics on the
availability and use of the Internet in Brazil, and many other
Internet-related activities. In addition, Glaser is Director of LACNIC, the
Latin American and Caribbean Internet Address Registry.
We are delighted to welcome Hartmut to the Public Interest Registry Board
and we appreciate Arts continued contributions in guiding the
organization, said Kathy Brown, President and CEO of the Internet Society.
The Public Interest Registry is fortunate to have a talented and diverse
group of individuals who are committed to serving the global community, and
ensuring that the Public Interest Registry is well-positioned to advance its
mission. We also thank Raimundo Beca for his dedication and service to this
organization.
