Cintra,
this is a very noble and great idea and on my end i was having this issues of age bracket not to be open to all internet users. Internet usage has no age bracket and so we should obey that fact. The ambassador program should have no country barriers too.

Thanks

Subject: [Chapter-delegates] ISOC NGL and Ambassador Programme

Dear Chapter Delegates,

Like many of you I am a graduate of the ISOC Next Generation Leaders (NGL) Programme and alumni of the ISOC Ambassador Programme, these programmes really enhanced and strengthened our Chapter and its leaders.

Indeed, not only have these Programmes done alot to support ISOC Chapter Leaders in capacity building and networking into the IGF world; but they have been very supportive of non-english speaking chapters in particular by encouraging participation to countries such as Venezuela and supporting French and Spanish language learning.

In fact, ICANN has  similar programs called the ICANN Fellowships and ICANN Academy programs, both have which been recognised for their success in bringing new contributors to ICANN and rewarded with increased budgets.

Unfortunately, ISOC appears to be doing the opposite. At the ISOC meeting held at ICANN London today, I asked about the reallocation  of funds effectively terminating the ISOC NGL and Ambassador's Program. It is quite strange that there had been no previous consultation or correspondence to the Chapters from staff regarding this change (whether temporary or permanent).

Toral Cowieson (Senior Director ISOC Leadership) answered the question. She stressed the value of the programs to ISOC and many hands were raised in the room as beneficiaries of these programs. Apparently the  ISOC Ambassadors program will return in 2015 in a different format.

This email has been very much from my own perspective, I feel that these programs must be returned to truly build existing and new Chapters. From the Chapter Delegates I love to hear your own experiences of these programs.

Given the vagueness of the status of these key programs, I would like to know from staff what format this program would be returned to the Chapters and internet community; as well as the new focus.

Thank you for your kind attention and thoughts.

Best regards

Saludos cordiales
