Hello All,

Greetings from the newly chartered ISOC  Zimbabwe Chapter .
My sentiments regarding  this issue is that  ISOC does a fantastic job by extending a portion of its budgets towards chapters though this is clearly not be exhaustive due to immense funding requirements especially needed for successful operations /events and projects .Being a a quid pro quo type relationship for the benefit of the global mission, ISOC global must try to evaluate each chapter crisis/needs independently and offer as much support because each operating environment and/or challenge is different i.e local chapter support and access to alternative funding.Solutions may vary so each appeal must be evaluated differently .On the other hand,  i personally think it's essential for chapter officials to understand the extent to which ISOC global can assist chapters and understand that by operating one, they cannot avoid  certain responsibilities.

Best Regards

Indeed ISOC  staffs are doing a wonderful job and are very responsive. The Cambodian story aside, as has been mentioned, some operational chapter structures need to be reviewed. What I see here is a highlight of a few issues affecting chapters, but are not exhaustive. Every chapter is unique in its own way, with experiences that may be unique to each entity or similar to others, affecting them.  Simply put a chapter, as an extension of Global ISOC, if affected in one way or another, cannot propagate its mission appropriately. In a situation where there are no mechanisms to conclusively address some of such concerns, then people are left with very few options.

With all the Mis-communication happening I believe the ISOC  staffs are doing a wonderful job. From the chapter directors to the regional managers they are supportive about the issues and happening. May be there might be some issues of lower or greater interest but the whole Cambodian story has gone too far  listening to one side of the story. I think we should give some credit to the chapter staff for the good things happening..................
