Hi Veni -
Thank you for your views. We are fortunate that there are a lot of people in the ISOC community, including on this list, with a wide range of interests and view points.
We do hope to hear from Chapters and Members as part of the strategic planning process, which has also been thoughtfully considered and guided by our Trustees. Community outreach and input is an important part of the work, and we look forward to hearing from the community, including and especially our Chapters and Members.
And in this regard, I hope you will extend the opportunity and encourage participation from the Bulgarian Chapter and its members.
We recognise that there is a lot of interest and importance post-WCIT and on the upcoming WTPF, and we are actively working on those issues as well. It is also important to ensure that we are also working towards a longer term view of the organisations work and the challenges that the Internet will face, while actively progressing current issues.
Thanks again for contributing your views to the list. Also, please do consider including them and your other thoughts on the webpage at:

Thanks and best regards,
Karen

Ted, hi.
As someone who has done this exercise many times with ISOC, I'm not sure this is very useful spending of resources - both by ISOC and certainly by the chapters. We, unlike ISOC, don't have dozens of paid staff... Well, perhaps ALL chapters don't have even a dozen paid staff. When we are asked to contribute on something like that, we spend - all of us, together - hundreds of hours writing, thinking, editing, discussing.
This is happening as we're confronted with the biggest danger for the free, open and democratic Internet that we know, develop and use.
As we all know, the WCIT was battle no. 1, but there are more coming. ISOC should focus on making sure the damage for the Internet is as little as possible! And this is where the chapters are indeed... priceless!
This is where we really make a difference!
To discuss what ISOC will be in 5-10 years is just waste of time.

Dear ISOC Chapter Member:
The Internet Society is current engaged in a strategic planning process to enhance our ability to deliver on our mission now and well into the future.
We need and invite your input to key questions critical to what ISOC should be and be doing. For example:
* Where is ISOC making a difference?
* What makes the Internet Society unique and valuable?
* What challenges do you see to the Internet in the future?
* What assets and capabilities will ISOC need to advance our mission in three, five, seven years?
* How can we together best assure the open, accessible, interoperable, multi-stakeholder Internet for coming generations?
To facilitate that input we developed an information and questions page where you can find additional back ground to the process and respond to our strategic framing questions.

Together we will make the difference we envision.
With thanks
