Great response !

In case this might help, last Saturday ISOC-CAT held its first
CryptoParty. These are gatherings (or BYOD workshops) organized
world-wide in which more experienced users explain less experienced how
to install, configure and use basic privacy applications
(https-everywhere, VPNs, TOR, EnigMail, password policies, data/hard
disk encryption, etc).

I do believe ISOC chapters can get visibility while providing a service
to the community leading these efforts locally, which in addition help
to develop ISOC main principles and values.

Enabling people to use crypto and increase their awareness on privacy is
just one side of the actions HQ/Chapters could deploy; action at
political level with governments and international organizations to
ensure fair legislation (and its application) is also key.

We'll be soon posting our slides in CC so everyone can benefit
