All -
I am quiet surprise about the reaction to the PRISM revelation as this type
of meta data mining has been going on for years. As I understand it, the
data is only being looked at to determine trend as not of the actual content
is read or listen to. I am of the opinion that given the completely
irrationality of fanatic Islam, all people must err on the side of caution
to prevent thousands of innocent losing their lives by the action of a small
group of lunatic individuals.
Can anyone in their right mind risk another 911 to assure the complete
privacy of the few crazies? Let face reality folks the current world
situation requires these kinds of technological interventions to mitigate
the real threats to the populations that lurks in the shallow and minds of
those demented radicals.

Thanks, Elver and Veni - waiting for some "ISOC" response.

I wonder if ISOC is planning a statement of some kind, and may be some
guidelines for chapters, which are facing media attention?

Hi All,
The key issues with PRISM, as we're framing it in Estonia, are the
following:
1. Estonia's constitution guarantees certain basic (human) rights to every
Estonian citizen, but the government is unwilling and unable to uphold these
rights on the internet.
