OTOH there is the idea that payment can enhance the sense of
stakeholderism, and result in a committed membership. I think that there
are not a few "open" chapters that were founded by a core of what ISOC
refers to as "sustaining members" and originally served as professional
organizations, ISOC-NY among them, if not ISOC itself, As far as separate
funding, donors often may look to match what the participants will put up
themselves. Once the chapter is on a firm footing, capacity building,
including membership restructuring can be contemplated.
I laud the idea to create a home for the Chapter. I'd be happy myself to
kick in a few $$.
I look forward to the chapter's establishment, when I can proselytize it to
my increasing number of Adeni fb friends.
