Tendo em vista as recentes revelações sobre uma maciça coleta de dados
de usuários finais de provedores de Internet e de telecomunicações,
feita pela National Security Agency (NSA) dos EUA alcançando vários
países, entre eles o Brasil, bem como práticas similares de outros
países, o capítulo brasileiro da Internet Society (ISOC-BR) resolve:

- Condenar a coleta e armazenagem de dados sem o devido processo legal,
bem como o monitoramento das comunicações sem expressa ordem judicial,
sob pena de violação de direitos individuais e coletivos
constitucionalmente assegurados e o comprometimento das relações
colaborativas e de confiança sobre as quais nasceu e desenvolveu-se a
Internet.

- Enfatizar a defesa dos 10 Princípios para a Governança e Uso da
Internet no Brasil, aprovados pelo CGI.br em 2009, que constituiram
fundamental ponto de partida para a proposta do Marco Civil, voltados à
defesa de garantias básicas de usuários e prestadores de serviços
Internet no país.

- Apoiar a declaração da Internet Society sobre o mesmo tema, que pode
ser lida aqui:

- Insistir na garantia de proteção aos direitos humanos básicos e as
liberdades individuais, entre eles o direito à privacidade, tal como
expressos na Declaração Universal de Direitos Humanos da ONU.

Given the recent revelations about massive data collection from Internet
and telecommunications' users, by the National Security Agency
(NSA) in the USA, reaching several countries, including Brazil, as well
as similar practices in other countries, the Brazilian chapter of the
Internet Society (ISOC-BR) resolved:

- To condemn the collection and storage of data, without due legal
process, as well as communications monitoring without a due court order,
as these acts are in violation of constitutionally assured individual
and collective rights, and they break the collaborative and trust
relationships on which the Internet was born and developed.

- To emphasize the defense of the 10 "Principles for the Governance and
Use of the Internet", approved in 2009 by the Brazilian Internet
Steering Committee
(http://www.cgi.br/english/regulations/resolution2009-003.htm). These
principles were the fundamental starting point for the proposed
Brazilian Legal Framework for Internet Rights ("Marco Civil"), aimed at
the defense of the basic guarantees of users and Internet service
providers in the country.

- To support the Internet Society statement on the same subject, which

- To insist on the guaranteed protection of basic human rights and
freedoms, including the right to privacy, as expressed in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights of the UN.
