We certainly welcome the formation of ISOC Chapter in Burkina Faso. We see this as a critical step in the evolution of Internet development and deployment in Africa.

A. Proposed name of the Chapter

Internet Society Burkina Faso Chapter



B. Community of Interest the Chapter will serve

Burkina Faso



C. Purpose and scope of Chapter

According to the by laws this group main mission is to support the open development, the evolution and the use of the Internet for the profit of all and all through Burkina Faso. It also shares the missions and goals of the Internet Society ISOC




We will serve the community through these activities :

- By organizing trainings

- By advocating the “internet for all”

- By creating solutions (soft and hard) that facilitates the internet access for all

- By raising awareness for the adoption of new concepts (e.g : IPv6)



As chapter of Internet society, this will be an opportunity :

- to join a worldwide Stakeholders group

- to have a stronger national credibility

- to have better support for members’ trainings



Being recognized by the Government of Burkina Faso and by Isoc will certainly allow our Association to officially launch its activities and achieve its main goals as to accelerate the development and use of Internet to benefit to All in Burkina Faso




D. Outline of key priorities for the first year of the Chapter



- Initiate an online forum to share experiences

- Launch meetups to discuss local internet related issues and ways of development

- Draw and share a map of the top influencers of the Internet in Burkina Faso as well as worldwide

- Support and push Government policies for Internet development in Burkina Faso

- Initiate public training sessions on IPv6 planning and migration for Universities and major Ministry departments

- Support Local IGF set up and support activities -
