Item 2 "new gTLDs" ICANN matters are appropriate for the Sunday
ISOC at ICANNmeeting, which is where it should be discussed - not the
Chapters and
Members meeting. But there may be the odd insight subsequently gained
Item 4: "Future activities" will be the same kind of time consuming roll
call that the introductions are. Perhaps this kind of thing is better done
by compiling emails as Sally recently did on WCIT efforts by Chapters -
which, in itself, will save time at the meeting.
Item 1: WCIT. See above. We already spent a whole meeting on this last
time. Mostly we are pretty well engaged already. Time should be limited on
this. But we should look into the future. "after WCIT what next?"
Item 3: "specific topics" - this is intriguing.
I'd be interested to see some discussion on Intra ISOC communications
issues and ideas, and integration of same, for example a good unified event
calendar system. The various merits of adobe, webcasting, video, social
media, with any success or failure stories. For instance we have been doing
well in North America with regular Google Hangouts.
Another perennial topic is improving engagement between Chapters and
Organizational members, both with resource help and policy discussion at
the local level.
In a separate note, Tom Lowenhaupt from ISOC-NY will be attending and he
is interested in co-ordinating with Chapters in cities that, like NYC, are
making geo TLD applications.
