Eduard,
I am always enthusiastic whenever a chapter proposes to get creative and to
energize the larger community on behalf of Internet freedom, progress and
celebration. The idea of complementing and supporting the Global INET with
local events could be a really good one, bringing the ISOC mission messages
to a more diverse, and equally important audience, as well as to our own
circle for those unable to make the journey to Geneva.
Please keep us all posted with your ideas on the details as they evolve and
deepen, as well as any requests of us. We'll provide feedback and
suggestions wherever we can. Please do keep in mind that Staff remained
focused on preparation and full implementation for the Global INET and will
focus our resources to that end.
Finally I applaud your work to bring collaboration tools to the chapters. It
has been difficult for us to lead in this respect, and are very happy for
your leadership. I would love to learn about the tools you've evaluated,
which ones you've deployed and your recommendations. I'm particularly
interested to understand as much as I can in the area myself and learn from
you how we can assist chapters better in the future.
With thanks,
Ted

Internet Springs - Re: [Chapter-delegates] Announcing Global INET 2012!
Dear Ted , dear all,
Thank you for confirming us the programme of Global Inet.
Regarding the chapter workshop, the timeframe was a bit tight (less than one
month to make a public announcement and selection of a delegate matching the
criterias ) , but we understood that most of the chapters , including ours ,
managed to confirm their NGL or potential NGL delegate.
Also , for being involved in the preparation of Bucharest Inet, we know that
finalizing an agenda it's a tough job (it took us 4 months of permanent
adjustments), thus we are confident that eventually you will get the most
interesting speakers.
Investing in the future is certainly the right thing to do , but we have
seen on the list some concerns from chapters regarding the involvment in
this event of actual or "senior" chapter management.
This is why we come with a small proposal.
The idea is to link the global event with smaller (simbolic ) events ,
organized by chapters, taking place in the same period (22-24 april 2012 ).
We could call them "Internet Spring" , making the link between Isoc 20-th
anniversary and the future of Internet.
We intend to use the annual chapter event fund to organize "Primavara
internet" - Internet Spring between the 22-24-th april in Romania.
If there are other chapters interested to have a coordinate event in the
same period , please let us know.
Regards,
Ed
P.S. If there are some conclusions available from last year Bucharest
chapter workshop we will be happy to distribute them to our chapter members
. As promised , with help from some other chapters who volunteered during
the workshop , we made a small experiment of chapter to chapter
collaboration . It is available on http://www.anuntul.eu/wordpress/ . We
would like to deliver in 2012 what we promised ourselves in 2011 : a forum
making possible cross-collaboration between chapters, based on various
topics . We all had an agreement that the hierachical distribution of
information Isoc-HQ- Chapter Delegates List- Chapter members is limited and
we need at least forums.
