[Chapter-delegates] Global INET Investment

Dear all,
In my opinion (which of course one might disagree with) it has some sort
of non-sense to set up an application for the grant that is meant to send a
"new" member that for example has never been to a Chapter Workshop... why
I'm saying this?: well, just because of all you've said... because I
believe that the Global INET was meant to enforce ISOC in all aspects. That
was meant for new and future leaders as for the ones that (better or worst,
much or less) have some steps walked over this streets... because as you've
said, It is not a good idea (for me at least) to drive the opinion of new
and future leaders with the opinion of the actual ones... and of course,
the "new" ones often do not have the experience nor know the history; so It
would be far better (again in my opinion) to give grants for new attendants
but also for the old ones to guide and step beside the new ones. I do
believe that this is not a "normal" INET meeting... Besides it has the
"INET" name, is far more important than the local INET meetings we have
organized and/or attended; and the same about this Chapter Meeting.
What is more, all we know the issue about getting funding to attend this
kind of meetings... where some of us live far (really far) from the place
this meetings takes place (of course this is inevitable as the world has
something about 12.576 Km and the meeting is Golbal). So, to pay for the
round trip, the event and some other stipends costs each what?... about
3000 US$ minimum (not including the hotel in this account)? ... but the
numbers will speak for their own: let's see the statistics of "country of
origin" for the attendants other from the ones who got the grant, invited
ones, and ISOC staff.
Just to clarify and make my point here, I've got nothing to say about the
ISOC staff or board work itself, which I believe it's done in a very
professional and efficient way.
... and It's not because of the "grants", It's about all the Global INET
vision, ISOC mission and Internet and ISOC's future.
Everything else but this, sound great for me about the Global INET 2012 !
Regards,
Nicolas
