Dear Members,
Please see below information on the upcoming WSIS+10 Review hosted by
UNESCO, in Paris, from 25 to 27 February 2013. The event will be held
back-to-back with the next IGF Open Consultations and MAG meetings (28
Feb - 1 March 2013).
A call has been launched to:
----------------------------
- submit workshop proposals for the WSIS+10 event (deadline: 10 December);
- volunteer as a "resource person" to raise awareness in the different
stakeholders communities and contribute to the preparations of the event.
The Internet Society is considering submitting workshop proposals in
various fields including Privacy, Human Rights and IPR. We will get back
to you with additional information as we get closer to the meeting.
Please do not hesitate to share this information with your networks and
to keep us informed of your engagement plans for WSIS+10.
Thank you and best regards,

Subject: [igf_members] [Final countdown] WSIS+10: Last week for
submission of your session proposal/s + Resource persons

Dear All,
Timing will be easier for the February meetings in Paris, when the
WSIS+10 review (25-27 Feb.) is scheduled back-to-back with the Open
consultations and MAG meetings (28 February and 1 March 2013). While
much of the attention is devoted these days to Dubai (++), I would like
bring to your attention that this is the last week for the submission of
WSIS+10 session proposals. At the "Taking Stock" session at the IGF
Baku, participants discussed for example the idea of holding a session
at WSIS+10 for developing a Compendium of Internet Principles, but
nothing has been submitted yet. Proposals can of course cover all WSIS
topics.
This is why I attach for you the form for the submission of proposals.
Please distribute it through your communities, too, if you think some
colleagues might not have seen this. At
www.unesco.org/wsis2013<http://www.unesco.org/wsis2013> you will find
more information on the conference, you can register, find the attached
session proposal form (to be send to
wsisteam at unesco.org<mailto:wsisteam at unesco.org> before 10 December 2012
the latest), invitation letters co-signed by the four heads of agencies
co-organizing this event and more practical information.
2) Following suggestions made by different stakeholder groups on the
WSIS Knowledge communities
(www.wsis-community.org<http://www.wsis-community.org/>), we are also
inviting you and colleagues to become resource persons for the UNESCO
hosted WSIS+10 review event. As a resource person (from any stakeholder
group), you would contribute in your individual capacity to the success
of this gathering by promoting the event with your communities, by
reaching out for input from peers, encouraging remote participation,
giving feedback on the draft agenda of the event and by contributing
with different inputs to a successful multistakeholder process of the
February 2013 event. UNESCO will not be able to provide financial
support, but most of this work can be done remotely too. The volunteers
should have relevant knowledge and networks, including an active
involvement with one or several of the WSIS processes, including the
IGF. You will find a form attached, also to be returned by 10 December
please. The resource persons have the first opportunity to participate
by giving feedback on the draft agenda at a virtual meeting scheduled
for 13 December at 3:30pm.
Again, please do not hesitate to disseminate this information widely,
also because the idea of reaching out through resource persons requires
broader participation. Any general information requests should be
addressed to wsisteam at unesco.org<mailto:wsisteam at unesco.org> and you are
most welcome to contact me directly at
c.wachholz at unesco.org<mailto:c.wachholz at unesco.org>.
Best regards,
Cédric
