Dear members,

As you may be aware, the Council of Europe is preparing a Declaration of Principles and a Recommendation to Member States. Both drafts are available at the conference website under the Call for Comments section: [http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/standardsetting/media-dataprotection/conf-internet-freedom] http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/standardsetting/media-dataprotection/conf-internet-freedom

The drafts have been prepared by a multistakeholder expert group, chaired by Wolfgang Kleinwächter. They will be discussed during a conference in Strasbourg on "Internet Freedom - From Principles to Global Treaty Law?", on 18 and 19 April. The documents should then be finalized after the April meeting, taking into account the comments received as well as the discussion at the April meeting.

The Internet Society has been invited to speak at the conference mentioned above. Additionally, ahead of the conference, we plan on sending incomments on the draft Council of Europe Declaration of Principles and the draft Recommendation.

Request for comments
To help us prepare the Internet Society’s contribution to the Council of Europe, we would like to invite our members to send us their comments and suggestions by 10 April.
