Hi Joly

We did shoot some short videos of some of the speakers - just getting their approval now - so they will be posted asap.

Congratulations on a great event, Frederic,

Was there any video shot, will it be posted?

I really like “don’t take the Internet for granted” - perhaps it might be used as a theme for OneWebDay this year.

Dear All

Please find herewith a short debrief of our recent INET hold in Frankfurt (February 23)
As you've certainly seen from the agenda ( http://www.isoc.org/isoc/conferences/inet/11/frankfurt-agenda.shtml) we have benefitted from the participation of key international and German speakers/panelists- And this has been instrumental in order to achieving our three-fold objectives for this INET.

1. Connecting the International level with Internet local issues.
The theme of the day "Securing the Future Growth of the Internet: Stability, Openness and Trust" allowed for very lively debates, especially as the audience was very pro-active. Privacy and network confidence related issues remain a hot topic in Europe and in Germany and the conversation between the audience and the panelists opened many interesting perspectives. Also, the morning session, dedicated to the openness of the Internet, has been marked by thought provoking debates, all demonstrating the real importance and urgency to engage with all stakeholders at both intl and local level on ISOC key principles and strategic messages.

2. Raising ISOC and ISOC chapter visibility in Germany
Both feedback from the audience as well as a great coverage in press/media (see below) have shown an important interest and focus on ISOC activities in Europe and in Germany. This shows, if needed, the importance of engaging with stakeholders at local level, for which the chapters are our leading forces.

3. Media Outreach:
The objective from a communications perspective was to leverage the content of the Frankfurt INET event before, during and afterwards to maximise its impact and to extend its reach. Prior to the event we reached out to key media contacts, inviting them to the event and arranging some briefings. We focused our outreach on the “don’t take the Internet for granted” message which resonated well with the German media. On the day of the event we issued a press release highlighting the event themes and quoting key speakers. Nine journalists attended including representatives from the Wall Street Journal, Reuters. Both before and during the event we generated some buzz on Social Media – including posting videos of speakers on Facebook, event postings on Linked in and the German language Xing in addition to regular Twitter updates. The results of the outreach were great – this project was an excellent start to new relationships with key German media. The coverage was also very positive
Example coverage
-eWeek: Open Internet The devil is in the detail
-Deutschlandfunk: Kontrollnetze und Netzkontrollen
-Deutsche Welle: German chapter of Internet Society tackles Internet's futur
-European Voice: What kind of Internet does the EU currently have? And how can it avoid the path to ruin?

Needless to say, all of this was only possible because of a great collective effort and I want to thank again our German Chapter for their contribution to this success.
Hope you find this debrief useful and I look forward to our next (European) INET in Bucharest (November 11, tbc) which will be associated with a EU chapters Meeting.

Best Regards
Frederic
