Hi,

as you know in Mexico none of the significant content providers are yet
operating their services to the public on IPv6. TELMEX (Mr. Carlos Slim's
company, the incumbent telco/ISP-and-then-some) is the first company to
offer IPv6 as an ISP and they only started selling this in the last few
months, to large corporate clients, and other companies are following
suit.

In ISOC Mexico we decided that we'd not let pass IPv6 Day and held a press
conference, with 3 ISOC speakers, the lead IPv6 guy from the National
University (formerly the unit I headed), Telmex, Axtel, and the
government. We let the companies show what they are doing and explain
things, as did we. We got good coverage and an interested remote audience.
Our assessment is that it went well.

In parallel, the IPv6 Forum is taking place in Guadalajara, led also by 
ISOC members with whom we coordinated. Together, these activities are 
making a splash and helping raise awareness not only about IPv6 but also 
about Internet basics which are not usually in the public's mind (like 
interoperability, end-to-end, and other core principles.)
