Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks to Franck (for spotting) and to everyone else who posted
comments to this list regarding the 'TYRANNY_ALERT' IETF video. While
we don't like the altered video, and we understand sentiments to want
it taken
down, ISOC continues to feel strongly that freedom of expression is
core to the principles that we espouse.
As Alejandro and others point out, the Internet Society as an
organisation must be careful to show respect for it's own core
principles as described at: http://www.isoc.org/pubpolpillar/principles.shtml
. Specifically we uphold and defend "the ability to speak" as one of
our core values. As such, we believe strongly that no action should
be taken by any of us to ask for the video to be taken down.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion.
Best wishes
Anne
