Dear Christine Runnegar:

Thankyou for this draft statement which I support. It is correct for  
ISOC to limit our comments at this stage to those aspects of ACTA  
which are specific to the Internet, although this is quite difficult  
in practice because patents, copyrights and trademarks are all mixed  
up in the final text.

Regarding transparency, I would suggest amending paragraphs 1 and 6 on  
page 1. At this stage, the Parties have no option but to publish the  
text (since they hope it will be implemented in national and EU laws.)  
Thus our thanks and felicitations are not quite in order. As you point  
out on page 2, the damage done was that there was inadequate  
transparency during the negotiation period. The reference to WSIS is  
very important.

I look forward to the final version. If you receive requests for  
substantial changes, please consult us again.
