It is a proprietary protocol which is free to use.

These are not standards, they are used by only one platform.

Oh, forgot in the list W3C. So it is either IETF, IEEE or W3C

Even the mobile industry started to develop their own standards for the Internet, and all that just got wiped out with the iPhone and soon 4G aka WiMax will just come from IEEE.
