[Chapter-delegates] Media coverage of IPv4 depletion/ IPv6 deployment

Dear Colleagues,

I am forwarding a summary from Anya Chambers which shows the Internet
Society media coverage that resulted from last weeks joint press
conference with the RIRs, ICANN and the Internet Society on the
depletion of the global pool of IPv4 addresses following the last /8
allocation to APNIC, and the importance of deploying IPv6.

Anya reported that in total there were 26 unique pieces of coverage
that mention the Internet Society. The recent coverage in particular
suggests that sentiment is moving away from worry about the depletion
of IPv4 addresses, and toward discussion of why now is the right time
to deploy IPv6.

As we know, many Internet Society Chapters are also very active
locally in promoting IPv6 deployment. If you or anyone in your Chapter
has also had media coverage following last weeks announcement
(interviews etc) we would be very happy to hear from you.

On a related note, I am also sharing a link to a presentation by Asif
Kabani from the Pakistan Chapter on the status of IPv6 activities in
the country, given at the recent Philippines Chapter IPv6 event. The
presentation is at: http://wiki.chapters.isoc.org/tiki-download_file.php?fileId=154
.

As always, we would love to hear of any activities you are involved in
with your Chapter to promote IPv6 as this is important information for
the forthcoming IPv6 toolkit. You can contact us on or off list.

Best wishes,

Anne
