One of the things that we do in Puerto Rico that has helped us increase our
membership is to have a monthly activity. Each month we have a presentation
around an Internet related theme and invite everybody (these events are
open to the public). During the presentation we talk about ISOC and invite
people to join the chapter. Also, we have an on-line registration form (
http://isocpr.org/en/registrant-login/register#content) that allows people
to register as a member any time. We get two or three new members a week by
just providing this mechanism.
ISOC provides US$2,000/year to support these activities. Also, ISOC can
provide chapters with promotional material that can be used during these
events.
