Nice report Bill.

I'm wondering how much of all of this is hot air (as jon Levine said on the ALAC list)? I mean, there is lot of agitation when ITU make a speech, or countries try to regain control, but then US/EU bock and also many countries cannot reach agreement. Meanwhile, the Internet moves on, and they play catch up all the time.

It is important to be at ITU meetings, but I'm not sure it is the best use of ISOC scarce resources to worry too much about the ITU.

As I like to point always, look at www.itu.int/spam (last update was 2006-10-09) then on cyber-security then on DNS and IP... 

ITU is not relevant anymore, unfortunately no one wants to say the king is naked.

Let's stop to fight negative proposals and focus on positive proposals. Let's regain the initiative.

Dear all,

I have been attending the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference this week, along with a few others from the Internet community.  The attached brief report was prepared jointly by Cathy Handley of ARIN and I to give you the key developments of the week.  It is extremely busy here, but we will continue to work together and with others as they join us to send out reports through the remaining 2 weeks.  I will also find a way to post these to the ISOC web site, which will be easier for all of us, plus will not spam those of you who don't want to receive further reports.
