All,

ISOC staff are preparing to attend the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference in Hyderabad India. This conference is held every four years, and it sets the work program for the ITU's Development assistance and capacity building activities. And, because it is held only a few months before the October Plenipotentiary Conference, the WTDC often provides a preview of the main issues that will be discussed at that treaty-level conference. The results of treaty conferences are binding on Member States.

I have prepared a Members' Guide to the WTDC and assembled a large number of briefing papers that I hope will be useful during the Conference. It is gathered at a dedicated web page at:

As I have noted before, ISOC members who are interested in helping our efforts can do so by reaching out to their government representatives to share information with them, and to discuss the possible impacts of their work on the health of the Internet. The Members' Guide contains information on how to identify the appropriate government actors. If you do speak to representatives from your government, I would appreciate it if you will tell me, and pass along their contact information if they would like to meet in Hyderabad.

I will also appreciate feedback on the material provided, so that we can work together to improve ISOC's materials and strengthen our presence on the world stage.

Warm regards,

Bill
