Hello Everybody,
>As I already mentioned to the staff, it is not just an issue of changing a
gif/png image file on a web site.
>There are letterheads, envelopes, business cards, signposts, t-shirts,
coffee mugs and everything else with
>the chapter logo on it that needs to be replaced. This does have a cost.
>I am not sure most chapters finances can allow that luxury.
>If HQ wants us to adapt, there must be a budget to cover the costs for the
chapters.
I am fully in line with all previous speakers and did a quick inventory in
our chapter:
- WEB: easy to change, less than 5 minutes effort
- letterhead: pre-printed in stock 0, effort to change
word/openoffice/powerpoint templates: less than 10 minutes
- envelopes: pre-printed in stock 0, effort to change word/openoffice
templates: less than 10 minutes
- business cards: pre-printed in stock less than 50, effort to change
word/openoffice templates: less than 10 minutes
- signposts: in use 0, needed replacements 0
- t-shirts: in stock 0, nice idea for next event, but new template has to
be created then in any case
- coffee mugs: in stock 0, good idea for next event, but new template has
to be created than in any case, took last time less than 2 hours
I could continue along this line (what about memory-sticks, base-caps,
windbreakers and and and?)
I do not believe changing of the logo (which by the way is not intended to
be done over night, you have time to phase out and use up your existing
material) will bring to (at least our German) chapters any significant cost
if done in a sensitive way- this still might be different elsewhere.
But back to my real points:
Yes I believe it makes sense to help chapters in developing and creating
such marketing material as mentioned above.
And yes I hope this will be supported by ISOC HQ.
And yes again I propose setting up things like a "logo kit" put together by
ISOC HQ containing all the logos and any other material needed for
publishing and sales in all usually needed setups and formats (Did you ever
try to talk to a professional printer or publisher? - They have exact ideas
in which format a logo is accepted.)
And yes I hope there will be more support for chapters from HQ.
But it is still upon us to be as chapters (again speaking mostly for my own
chapter) more active and moving forward.
And last but not least: Did you have a look at the new logo design? There
are two versions shown on page 88 of the chapter handbook - and at least for
us (again speaking for the German chapter) - the difference to our existing
logo is minimal - so the change to the new layout can be done without too
much difficulties.
just my 2 cents before the discussion is taking up too much speed
