Dear Chapter Delegates,

Do you ever survey your members to find out what types of skills,
talents, or resources your members possess? Do you ever ask new
members questions about things they'd like to volunteer to do? Do you
maintain checklists of tasks that need to get done for an event or
other activity?

If so, we'd like to know.

Some examples include finding out who among your membership knows how
to write a press release or Web content, handle Web design and/or
programming, has access to a server, has access to meeting space, or
can produce an attractive flyer. How do you find out what your members
can do to contribute? Do you ask them at membership meetings? Do you
post something on your Web site? Do you use social media? Do you
request this information when they join? Every Chapter needs help from
volunteers, particularly if you are running events or undertaking
projects. Let us know what you do and what you've tried.

In terms of checklists, do you keep lists of tasks that need to get
handled, particularly for meetings and presentations? Some examples
include setting up the room, arranging for audio-visual equipment, or
bringing in refreshments. If so, we would very much appreciate seeing
those checklists (they don't have to be elegant) and sharing the
information with other Chapters as part of the ISOC Chapter Toolkit on
Mobilizing Volunteers.

Let me know!

Thank you so much for your help...

Best, Wendy
