Thanks for the information Christine.
I'd certainly be interested in joining, and perhaps helping to
document those same "emerging policy responses" and the group's work.
ISOC-NY has recently webcast a couple of copyright related talks -
although not strictly related to infringement policy. These are, of
course, available on DVD for any chapter that might want a copy.
David Post: JEFFERSON’S MOOSE IN CYBERSPACE – Copyright & The Internet
http://www.isoc-ny.org/?p=959 DVD 1671
David argues that prima facie copyright is making copyright a mockery
in the networked age and argues for a return to earlier opt-in
regimes.
William Patry: Moral Panics and the Copyright Wars
http://www.isoc-ny.org/?p=990 DVD 1666
Bill, who is Senior Copyright Counsel at Google, argues that
regulations can't be based on moral rights, or history, but on
practical considerations.
Older webcasts include:
Richard Stallman - Copyright vs. Community
http://punkcast.com/1552/index.html DVD1552
The founder of the free software movement argues that massive
reduction of copyright terms is in the public interest.
Lawrence Lessig - Remix: Making Art and Commerce Thrive in the Hybrid Economy.
http://www.isoc-ny.org/?p=510 DVD1477
Lessig, who as we know is a current candidate for the ISOC BoT,
describes the creative and profitable future that culture and industry
could realize, if only we gave up IP extremism.
