[Chapter-delegates] Bug in the AMS system

Yes putting a familiar sender address is good, as a lot email clients whitelist based on that (include instructions like you will receive emails from x, please include it in your list of valid senders to avoid mails to be filtered,...). Also I don't know the IP/domain but ensure SPF record is set correctly and that emails have a DKIM signature (after all ISOC promotes DKIM). You can use http://gurl.im/b69d4o to check the infrastructure for email is ok.

I wondered about that. This included some recent joiners who would, I have thought, already received & responded to AMS mail to confirm their memberships. I did do a repeat send and many people then did get it. But it was a bit of a shot in the dark.

We run our own mailman announce list, but it's open to all, hence the need to use the AMS for votes etc.

Lincoln is assisting me by changing the AMS sender address to admin at isoc-ny.org for future mailings.

It may have nothing to do with the software but the reputation of the sending IP and domain...

Yahoo and Google tend to put in junk many emails they don't know about (no past history)...

Just to balance things out, I will say that, after a few hiccups, the AMS is now working relatively well for us at ISOC-NY, and we are signing up new members at the rate of about one a day.

Lincoln McNey and the team have been very responsive to concerns.

My only dubious point is the reliability of the email function - when I used it to send out ballots in our recent election, some members complained they didn't receive them.
