Lincoln,
Thank you for the update and the assurances that we will be able to see the updates and test the changes before the system goes live. As ever, I want to be a good resource for helping this system be what all of our Chapters need...

Subject: [Ams-chapter-info] ISOC Association Management System (AMS)September project update
Hello everyone --
Significant changes have been made to the AMS Chapter portal since the last update.
On September 9th, a live, online demonstration of the AMS Chapter Portal (Beta version) to Chapter Delegates, Chapter Steering Committee (CSC) members, and Chapter Points of Contact (POCs) took place. Two demonstrations were conducted (11:30AM UTC and 20:00 UTC) to ensure greater participation in the demos, and a third demo was added during the Delhi Chapter workshop.
Besides incorporating the feedback from the first CSC-only demo, these Beta demos included all-new functionality for Chapter officers, a password-reset mechanism, and localisation into four languages (English, French, German, and Spanish). NOTE: Please see the attached document (may display at bottom of email) for a summary assessment of the AMS Chapter portal functionality, vs. the existing Q portal.
However, while there was interest in a lot of this new functionality, there was also a great deal of concern expressed around the planned portal look and feel. The AMS project team took note of this, and as a result went back and received permission to use the current website look and feel for the portal instead. Therefore, the bulk of the changes since the Beta demo were around the overall look and feel of the portal, though significant functionality and localisation improvements have continued as well.
The next steps in this process include making the Beta version accessible to selected Chapter officers for hands-on testing, and creation of training materials for Chapters based on screenshots from the current version portal. Those officers/POCs who have shown interest so far will be receiving the URL and instructions on or before October 9th.
Finally, the shutdown of the old membership system (Q/GoMembers) and the go-live of the new portal is currently slated for October 29th (not October 15th as previously stated). The change in this date is primarily a result of the effort and changes needed to meet community expectations, based on the Beta-demo feedback. Training sessions for this new system will be available via Webex before that time, and training materials (how-to guides) will be distributed to all Chapter Delegates and POCs in advance of the portal launch.
Other project news:
We also want to remind Chapter leaders about the data-consistency initiative which seeks to make consistent all the different sources of information regarding Chapters. This work also includes a compliance review of the use of Chapter logos. Consistent, accurate and up-to-date details for each Chapter is an important priority. Your timely response to our emails around this initiative is very much appreciated as we move towards the October 29th launch date.
As before, please write with any questions around the new portal or the AMS project in general. These questions should go to ams-project at isoc.org .
Thanks --
