[Chapter-delegates] Privacy statement

David is putting words in my mouth here.

What I have said ( in internal ISOC-NY discussion) is that we should be
careful about
blindly attaching our name to activist statements - even if we support the
principles
behind them. I believe that if we do so we may risk our considerable
prestige as an
organization that is dedicated to an open internet regardless of politics.
That means
having a regard for widely differing points of view on some social matters.

I think we saw here on this list, in the recent discussion on the OneWebDay
pledge,
just how easy it is for seemingly innocuous statements to be misconstrued.
