[Chapter-delegates] Application to form a Chapter in Cameroon

Dear Colleagues,

The following application for a Chapter in Cameroon has been received.
It is being sent to this list for peer review and comments.

Please note that this is a rejuvenation effort, the new Chapter is not
yet formed and has not officially been recognised by ISOC.

If there are people on this list that know the individuals proposing to
establish the Chapter, feedback is especially welcome.

The period allowed for comments is two weeks and the deadline is June
14, 2009.

Chapter Application

A. Proposed name of the Chapter
Cameroon’s Chapter of Internet Society, (ISOC Cameroon).

B. Community of Interest the Chapter will to serve
Country of Cameroon

C. Purpose and Scope of Chapter
The main objectives of ISOC Cameroon are:
- Promote a strong presence of Cameroon on the Internet
- Being a recognized partner of government, regulators, telecom
operators, publishers, ISPs, content providers to intervene on different
aspects related to the Internet.
- to promote an Internet for all and by  all in Cameroon (Internet for
disabled persons, Internet in schools, rural areas and villages)
- to work with the Cameroonian authorities to educate, protect Internet
users and promote a safe Internet in Cameroon.
- to encourage participation of Cameroonian engineers and experts in the
work of the IETF and others Internet international organizations..
- to promote Internet governance Capacity building program in Cameroon
and encourage Cameroon’s participation to IGF process.
- Participate in the coordination of the African Bureau of ISOC.
We strongly believe that the formation of an ISOC chapter will help us
to achieve these goals.

F. List of Requirements
There are no specials rules or regulations to be followed by ISOC
Chapter in Cameroon. We just have to correctly declare the association
"ISOC Cameroon" according to the law on associations in Cameroon.

G. Additional Information
We are already in contact with the Africa Bureau of ISOC which 
encourages us in our approach. We also register a domain name: 
isoc-cameroon.org and a domain name isoc.cm is going to be active very 
soon. For me especially who is completing the application, I’m ISOC 
Sustaining Member since September 2008.
