Gunela and Enrique,
I am also very happy that the response from several chapters have been very positive about the IADB project.
And that you already have experience with the IADB, that will help us all.
I think it may be a very good idea to discuss the possible projects and topics to ensure the maximal impact of our work in making Internet accessible for all!
It is important that the Internet is accessible for all people and that a disability should not be the reason NOT to use internet.
(or be forced to limited internet use). After all, "the Internet is for everyone".
The first step is indeed to identify what your partner disability organizations would find valuable and like to see as a project.
We can then identify the possible technology and services that help solving the issues/making life with a disability easier.
We can also ask the disability organizations:" what do you want to happen in the coming 5 years?" and "what are the biggest problems your members have to participate in society today?"
>From my personal point of view I can identify the importance of: equal ability to communicate using internet (think IP telephony), equal ways to access information and entertainment via the world wide web.
Equal opportunity of education and professional training within the ability of the person with disability. (just as Gunela also mentioned).
I will help as much as I can, and there are many chapters who have quite a lot of expertise on accessibility and disability.
So I think it is indeed a very good idea to have all the interested chapters work together on this.
We can learn and help each other.
Sincerely
Arnoud
