Hello Joly,
Thank you your formal attention to your own message ! I hope that George
Sadowsky views this as an opportunity to express gestures of oneness with
China.
What ought to have been an integral part of ISOC, went its own way,
understandably in conformity with the Government's wishes, which appears to
changing, in its overall views about the value of the Internet, if the
Chinese Government's participation in Netizen Day is any indication.
Though there are areas of differences between ISOC's fundamental values and
the idealogical beliefs of China, at least some Chapters of ISOC would
consider one aspect of China's views on Internet Governance reasonable "No
Governments, or All Governments". as reported in a different list as a
summary of the Chinese position at the IGF, Hyderabad. We may not entirely
agree with this, but this is a position which is a good starting point to a
debate,
An ISOC Chapter in China would be an essential step to preserve the oneness
of the Internet. With that larger purpose, ISOC Global and the ISOC Chapters
could look at this opportunity to stretch an arm of friendship and interact.
I feel that the Government of China could consider its earlier policies to
'separate' the 'Internet Society' from ISOC and become one with the Internet
Community.
Thank you.
