Dear All
First of all, thank you for your nice words and best wishes for the opening of the European Bureau.
I'm very excited to launch and manage the Bureau in January and I'm looking forward to a very close and fruitful relationship with each of you.
No need to say, the Internet in Europe is facing a very challenging political, industrial and economic environment which might turn to be a serious threat to the internet model and ISOC values and principles. And this calls for collective and vigorous actions at both local and regional level.
In order to better understand the complex environment in which each of you operate at local level, I plan - in close cooperation with ISOC chapters Department- to meet and/or talk to *each* European Chapter individually by Q2 2010. I would like to hear and understand your concerns, priorities and projects with a view to elaborate common plans at both national and European level and investigate how ISOC can support your local projects.
I will get back to you in the course of January with more details as well as a concrete schedule for individual meetings.
In the meantime, I wish you all a happy Christmas, a Happy Hannoucha and a Happy New Year
Best Regards
Frederic
