[Chapter-delegates] Alternatives for attending ICANN and other meetings

hi Chris,

Many thanks for your email and for asking this question.

I do understand the difficulties faced by a new Chapter, not least of
which is being able to take advantage of face-to-face meeting
opportunities. Right now, financial support to attend events is done
on a competitive basis and is focussed around key ISOC programmes and
initiatives such as the ISOC Ambassadors Programme and the IETF
fellowship programme. There have also been limited fellowship
opportunities to attend ISOC events such as the regional INETs.

However, we are working hard to address this through the 'Chapter
Development Plan' (at: http://www.isoc.org/isoc/general/trustees/docs/
dec2007/chapter_developmentplan.pdf) which includes an area of work
called "Funding Support". This seeks to address how to improve
financial support to Chapters, whilst maintaining a scalable and
sustainable financial obligation to ISOC.

I would be really happy to have your feedback on this, and other
matters through our survey of Chapter needs which can be found at:

http://www.isoc.org/tools/surveys/index.php?sid=11

Your feedback would be very helpful to us. We have had a good
response, but are looking for feedback from as many Chapters as
possible.

I hope this helps answer your question. If not, please don't hesitate
to contact me on or off list.

With best wishes,

Anne
