Dear Alejandro Pisanty,

If a purposeful agenda is drawn up and if the event happens in Paris, not
just from the chapter, but from the IT Industry in India, there could be a
thousand participants. This is not altogether a guess, but I am deducting
this from India's participation in overseas trade fairs and expositions -
which in some events was not in thousands but in tens of thousands. I don't
have any figures for events that are not related to trade.

There is no reason why the INET could also be an Internet Expo to offer
opportuniteis for companies such as CISCO, Facebox or Camcast to showcase
and promote their interent technolgies to decison makers from the Internet
related industry and governments. If it is organized that way, INET would be
more than financially sustained by corporate participants.

As for participation from Chapter delegates in an event of this nature, not
only our chapter in India, but apart from a handful of chapter delegates who
are seen in ICANN and other meetings, most chapter delegates would require
fellowships. If this can be planned as an event with a participation of 3000
+ Internet professionals from the Industry and government with ISOC global
reaching out to the corporate members of ISOC, IETF and ICANN to ensure paid
participation from the Industry, participation in the "Internet Technology
Expo" as commercial sponsors, combined with a fellowship for a hundred
chapter delegates from ISOC, the event could become a huge event,
irrespective of whether it happens in Paris of at an exotic or busy location
in India.

>From ISOC's perspective Internet is basic global infrastructure, free as
much as possible. But the reality is that the Internet is an economic eco
system with trillions of dollars in commercial flow. An Internet event from
ISOC ought to be a huge success. Perhaps we could invite an opinion from one
or two large event management companies on this.
