[Chapter-delegates] press release to be sent shortly

Dear friends,

Just a quick note: ISOC+ICANN+RIRs have been using the term "Internet
technical community" since the early stage of WSIS process.
It´s very hard to obtain recognition of the International community, and
these organizations experienced some troubles in the past. Just to give you
an example, during PrepComs for WSIS in Geneva, Civil Society and Commercial
entities have slots to express their position. ISOC was forced to "borrow"
slots form these constituencies. We ought to be recognized as a different
interest group, and I think this wording, "Internet technical community",
successfully express the existent differences.
Moreover, I can assure you that we don´t want to discuss "Internet Policy
and Technical" in an international context. What we know as "Policy" is
really "Thechnical" for bureaucrats in the UN environment.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I believe the name Internet  
technical community came from the OECD, in the preparations for this  
event, and the request they made to ISOC to coordinate this particular  
stakeholder forum.

I should also stress that there is no formal organisation called the  
Internet technical community - it was simply the way of referring to  
this voluntary grouping for this event.
