that's a very good question, and the one right after it is - is this
something the chapters are willing to do on a volunteer basis, or
something they are saying they want HQ to do for them?
I ask because, frankly, there are a lot of languages (is Mandarin
important? Arabic? German? Russian? Swahili? ...), and one can sink a
lot of money into translations of documents that aren't actually
used. If I were going to set up such a project, I would want some
concept of scope.
Hence, I think the place to start is for chapters to do what they
think is of immediate importance as a contribution to the community,
and then come back to headquarters with a project/program plan that
identifies what languages are important and what classes of documents
are important to keep up to date translations of in the long term.
If I'm going to ask Lynn to hire someone to do this instead, I would
really want a list of URLs of documents that folks would like
translated in the near future and some concept of priority. The words
"all of ISOC's web site and every IETF publication" is not such a
list, although I understand that it is essentially what you want. I
want actual URLs from someone who actually wants to refer to them.
I hope that makes sense...
