[Chapter-delegates] Internet Pioneer urges Pacific Islanders to face Internet Challenges at PacINET 2008

I would think that IF there is a way to create cooperation between islands,
existing connections to some could be shared to all (or most) on terrestrial
wireless links. I have some experience with long distance wireless links
carrying IP and once the capitol cost is absorbed, they are quite
inexpensive to operate. Considering the cost of a satellite or undersea
cable - the ROI would be MUCH better. There may be a big if however - I
must admit I am quite naive when it comes to the political situation among
Pacific island governments. Is this something that has been looked into and
dismissed, or are projects underway by chance? If not, what are the
obstacles?
