The following application for a Mauritanian Chapter has been received.
It is being sent to this list for peer comment and review.
Please note that the chapter is not yet formed and has not officially
been recognised by ISOC.
If there are people on this list that know the individuals proposing to
establish the chapter, feedback is especially welcome.
The period allowed for comments is 2 weeks and the deadline is Tuesday,
4 December 2007.

A. Proposed name of the Chapter
The proposed chapter name is the Mauritanian chapter of the Internet
Society (in french, Chapitre Mauritanien de l'Internet Society).
B. Community of Interest the Chapter will serve
The community of interest that the Mauritanian chapter covers is the
residents of the whole of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
C. Purpose and Scope of Chapter
The chapter will serve the community of interest by:
- Promoting the use of the Internet in the population through Internet
promotion events
- addressing issues of interest to the Internet users community
(accessibility and security) through regular public forums and direct
contacts with public authorities and private companies
- becoming the local voice of Internet users in Mauritania and actively
maintaining contacts with the global Internet community.

F. List of Requirements
It is required from any entity (association, organisation, etc..) that
will perform public activities to be registered with the Ministry of
Interior by submitting an application, names of founding members and
bylaws. This process will be strictly respected by the Mauritanian
chapter of the Internet Society.
