Hi,

at the risk of sounding too candid, the best we should strive for is to
use the regions division of some other, somehow better qualified,
authority.

The United Nations Statistics Division and other bodies like that have and
use regional classifications of varying degrees of granularity. One of
those is in use in ICANN, for example, though it is admittedly the
broadest one, and it wouldn't work for our needs.

What we in Chapters can do is go study and quickly forward an opinion on
which fits each one's region.

Certainly for Mexico, as one of you has asked, there are many choices
depending on what the needs are. So we are in North America, Mesoamerica,
Latin America, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Pacific Rim, the Gulf
of Mexico Coast, and in Ibero-america (a class not much used in English)
which encompasses both Latin America, at least parts of the Caribbean, and
the Iberic Peninsula ie Spain, Andorra, and Portugal.

Where would some of you rather place us? ;-).

Alejandro Pisanty
