Dear Colleagues,

ISOC, Chapters and members are making a difference on several fronts
at the IGF meeting in Rio this week. Please check the ISOC website
and the ISOC IGF Blog (which offers RSS and Atom feeds) daily for new
postings and comment on activities at:

Some of the recent headlines from the main ISOC webpage include:

ISOC President Lynn St. Amour addresses the opening of the IGF in Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil, 12 Nov 2007

In her address she encouraged the forum to remember the phrase "think
globally and act locally". She noted that a healthy and robust
Internet requires local conditions that support choice, connectivity,
and active communities. Capacity building was also highlighted as
vital to help bring online the next billion users, and the billions
to follow. She urged the Internet community to preserve the multi-
stakeholder spirit of the IGF to work towards these common goals.
More details of the speech are at:

ISOC highlights the importance of greater IPv6 Deployment

More operational experience is the key to a smooth transition from
IPv4. ISOC urged network operators and other Internet stakeholders
to share their operational experience of IPv6 deployment as the
Internet community prepares for the depletion of the IPv4 address
pool. More information is available at :

Best wishes,
Anne
