[Chapter-delegates] ISOC Budget planning comments requested

Dear Chapter Delegates:

As mentioned recently, we are now into our budget formation process for
2007 and looking at ideas for 2008 and 2009 as well. We would like to
get your input and that of your members and so this is a reminder to the
note below.

In thinking about this it is useful to have at hand our Strategic
Operating Plan - which expresses our strategy in Part 1 and then in Part
2 we indicate the budget we have created to pursue this strategy. Here
is the pertinent website: http://www.isoc.org/isoc/mission/ with the
2006 budget included in Part 2. We will update once we have the 2007
budget finalized. 

I mention these simply as a reference point as not as any limit to your
imagination or suggestions. We are in this together, this mission of
making the Internet for everyone and now is the time to contribute your
ideas for the budget formation process.

Please do give this wide and prominent dissemination within your
chapter. And please note the specific response address of:

Dear Members:

ISOC recently launched its 2007 to 2009 budget and activity planning
cycle. As a part of that process we would welcome suggestions from our
membership regarding operational and program opportunities for the 2007
to 2009 period.

You can see that this is a multi-year period and so it is important that
we capture the best ways to help ensure, among other things, that robust
Policy and Education Programs with a focus on impact and sustainability
are developed in line with our Strategic Operating Plan (SOP)
http://www.isoc.org/isoc/SOP.pdf.

Also, for the last few years ISOC has focused on building up our
infrastructure and "professionalizing" as many of our activities as
possible, and we are looking forward to continuing this work with
activities and programs focused on ensuring Chapters reach their full
potential within the ISOC sphere and that we have broad Member
participation in all our activities.   Active members and robust
chapters all working in support of shared goals would help build a
strong, maximally effective ISOC and ensure ISOC fulfilled our goal of
"The Internet Is For Everyone".

We are particularly interested in program-related suggestions where
there is felt to be unmet demand or where additional emphasis should be
placed.

We also wish for your feedback on how ISOC should consider membership
development initiatives to allow for significant and sustainable growth
as we all work for the Internet of the future.

We will separately be developing a short and compelling set of strategic
initiatives that will focus on a 5 - 10 year horizon and will be asking
for your ideas in a separate mailing.
