Dear Chapter Delegates:
Further to the points made by Franck Martin and Alan Levin this past
Tuesday, it did happen that one admin portion of the handoff from Nelson
Sanchez was inadvertently handled incorrectly - I apologize. That
affected the period from about January 6th until we saw it this week and
fixed it. Otherwise, the membership system is and has been working.
Alan's chapter was one of those chapters that helped us in testing the
system in beta mode. We are grateful for that help. The problems that we
identified then have been fixed in some respects (critical ones) or
queued for addressing later (if they related to preferences we wanted to
get a larger chapter experience first).
Some other chapter complaints (that the system is not multi-lingual or
does not offer multiple character sets) have been noted and will be
addressed but we felt the need to release a working system first and
then build on it in later stages.
Franck also complained that joining a chapter with the system is very
complicated. We have not heard that complaint much. Maybe we should ask
Chapter Delegates to help us here. Can you check with the two chapter
administrators in your chapter whom you have appointed for your system
management and with your members generally about the system and whether
joining or other features are unduly complicated? Maybe what is needed
is the creation of a FAQ or a brief tutorial for a user. But they should
only be called up if the system is really that complicated. Please let
us know what you think.
Best regards,
David
