Hello Veni-
Wonderful news! The Disability and Special Needs Chapter would like to be
sure you have the resource, Cynthia Says, linked to your website. This
resource is free and provides an automated accessibility checker for the
design of accessible web sites. Please see www.cynthiasays.com. At this
time the resource is in English only but I believe other languages will be
coming out. I will check up on that issue. An ISOC briefing about
accessible web is found at http://www.isoc.org/briefings/002/. The paper I
wrote that was commissioned by the National Science Foundation and the US
Department of Commerce and presented at the first White House conference on
the Digital Economy is entitled "The Growing Digital Divide in Access for
People with Disabilities: Overcoming Barriers to Participation." It is
online at http://www.icdri.org/CynthiaW/the_digital_divide.htm. It has been
republished by the UN and translated by other government entities - most
recently Japan.

I will be in Tunis in the capacity as Chair of the International Commission
on Technology and Accessibility for North America. We are a standing
commission for Rehabilitation International. I would like to get together
with other ISOC members in Tunis, if possible.

Best regards,
Cynthia Waddell

Dear colleagues,
I am happy to inform you that with the help of Afilias, the Open
Society Institute (OSI), and our own efforts, we've started www.isoc.bg/ig.

If any of you have information that needs to be included in the site,
please, let me know. If you or your members want to contribute with
articles, papers, etc., again - let us know.

I hope to see some of you in Tunisia at the WSIS, or in Vancouver at
the ICANN meeting.

Best,
Veni
